AC Marine started in 2003 when Stefan was asked to help with the rigging of a commercial sailing barge. With the background of a manufacturing and mechanical engineering degree, 15 years living afloat and converting and rigging two barges over the years, he then decided to make his love, interest and enthusiasm his future professional career and created AC Marine. Together with J. Tims, George Griffith and a couple of old hands in the barging trade very quickly a dormant boatyard at Staines was revived and an operating barge yard was established.
What does AC stand for? AC Marine stands for Anglo-Continental Marine.
Why Anglo-Continental - we believe that with the increase of barges and especially Dutch barges in the UK, it is beneficial to use best practice barge building principles as well as barge specific designs, components and equipment from the Continent as well as the UK.
We work closely with a number of barge yards and boat builders, surveyors, brokers, chandlers and charter agencies, mainly in Holland, in order to provide you with the best possible solution to your barging needs.
AC Marine Services aims to provide a One-Stop Shop to the barging community. That doesn’t mean you have to stop with us for all your needs but if required within our group we have experts for most aspects of barging. AC Marine Services is a group of professionals with years of experience in the boat and barging trade.
We have our core team based on board Elisabeth. Meet the AC Marine Team. From here we run the barge yard, deal with enquires and manage all projects. Within our team we have two carpenters, a boat builder, a marine engineer and an electrician and electronics engineer. We also provide Boat Safety examinations, surveys, charter and deliveries services.
